Tyler Ogilvie is an active freelance musician based in New York, performing regularly with regional orchestras including Symphoria (formerly Syracuse Symphony Orchestra), the Binghamton Philharmonic, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, the Catskill Symphony, and the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra. He is currently principal horn in the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, as well as the Clinton Symphony Orchestra. 

Ogilvie teaches horn at Colgate University while maintaining an active private studio in the Syracuse area. He has previously served on faculty at Dickinson College, Susquehanna University, and Ithaca College, where he continues to instruct horn at the college's "Summer Music Academy."

In addition to his performing and teaching activities, Ogilvie composes original works for horn and various other ensembles.  In 2020, his work, "zero.point." was featured on an album of world premiers for horn and electronics by hornist, Joshua Michal, and several of his works were featured in performances at the 48th International Horn Symposium in 2016.  Since that time, Ogilvie has also served as a composer-in-residence in the Syracuse City Schools as part of the Society for New Music's "Composer In Our Schools" program.  Ogilvie received both his Bachelor of Music in education and Master of Music in performance from Ithaca College, where he studied horn with Alexander Shuhan.  Tyler lives in East Syracuse with his wife, Brenna and daughter, Imogen and spends his free time woodworking.
